The objective of this plan is to assist county and city departments that manage climate-sensitive resources and assets to achieve their departmental objectives in the face of challenges posed by anticipated future changes in the climate of Boulder County.
BCPH staff made it a priority to enhance, initiate, and promote services to underserved populations to secure health equity. Underserved and vulnerable populations have a proportionally higher risk to impacts from climate change. BCPH staff indicated they are concerned about extreme heat events impacting sensitive populations within the county.
Many lessons were learned in the wake of the Fourmile Canyon fire, and one of those lessons was that further post-disaster recovery planning was needed. It is recommended that the county continue the recovery planning effort born from that disaster. The creation of post-disaster recovery plans will help the county be more resilient when faced with unpredictable extreme events.
