Plan

City of Santa Cruz, CA Climate Action Plan

Summary

The intent of this Climate Adaptation Plan is to identify our most significant potential climate change risks and vulnerabilities, and to create an action plan that will guide current and future decision makers in protecting our natural and built environment, our residents and visitors, our economic base, and our quality of life. Having a well-researched and thought out Climate Adaptation Plan in place creates the opportunity for the City to apply for FEMA and other funding to address identified adaptation priorities.

Equity Insights

Social and economic inequities that persist in our society contribute to poor health outcomes. Climate change is expected to have a disproportionate and unequal impact on individuals who are least able to anticipate, cope with, and recover from natural hazards.

Lessons Learned

Implementation and monitoring of the plan includes tracking the identified actions that are to be implemented, as well as changes in day-to-day City operations, and continued refinement and updates to the Climate Adaptation Plan based on the best available scientific information.
