Climate Change and Human Health Literature Portal

This knowledge management tool allows users to locate the most relevant scientific literature on the health implications of climate change, providing access to a database of studies from around the world published between 2007 and 2014.

The portal includes studies and other information sources about the health impacts and human health vulnerability related to temperature and precipitation changes, the frequency and severity of extreme weather, sea level rise, seasonal timing alterations, and other manifestations of climate change, as well as studies about the health benefits of actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, health adaptation for climate change, and resilience of health care facilities to extreme weather and climate events.

In addition to a basic search function, the portal offers a wide array of descriptive filters (e.g., geographic area, audience, type of material, time span, and others) that can be used to modify a search. The portal is intended to make literature on climate change and health more accessible to a global audience to further the study of climate impacts on human health. Regular uploads of new literature into the database are planned.

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences developed the database as a technical input to the U.S. Global Change Research Program's Sustained Assessment process.
