Northern Climate Reports

Description

For locations across Alaska and Western Canada, this site offers a plain-language report describing some of the environmental changes projected to occur as a changing climate alters Northern landscapes. Potential future conditions are based on results from climate and ecological models. Communities and businesses can use information on the site to understand their current and future exposure to climate-related hazards.

Users can select locations by name or coordinates, or clicking on a map. Reports include

  • Temperature charts and tables with multiple models and scenarios, grouped decadally and into mid/late century
  • Precipitation charts and tables with multiple models and scenarios, grouped decadally and into mid/late century
  • Hydrology charts with multiple variables, models, and scenarios, grouped decadally and by month of the year.
  • Permafrost with specific visualizations depending on the presence or absence of permafrost
